Privacy and cookies

sejmdiff has no ads and no analytics. It sets two small cookies and keeps ordinary server logs.

Cookies

  • csrftoken
    A random value that protects the language form against forged requests. Set when a page is opened; kept for one year.
  • django_language
    Remembers the language you chose. Set only when you switch the language; removed when the browser is closed.

Both are needed for the site to work as you asked. Neither is used to follow you or to build a profile.

If you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is kept in your browser's local storage (sejmdiff-theme). It is never sent to the server.

Nothing from other companies

Pages load their fonts, styles and scripts from sejmdiff itself, and the browser is told to refuse anything else. Links to other sites (the Sejm, the RCL, X, LinkedIn) leave sejmdiff; their own rules apply there.

MPs' photos come from the Sejm API (api.sejm.gov.pl). We serve them from our own server; your browser loads nothing from third parties.

Server logs

For each request the web server writes a line with the time, the address that was requested (including words typed into a search), the answer code, the page the link was on and the browser's name. Your network address is not in it: the web server only sees the HTTPS proxy in front of it, and the proxy is not set to write an access log. These lines are kept in files of up to 10 MB, five at most; when they are full the oldest is overwritten, so how long a line stays depends on traffic.

Request limits

To stop one visitor from overloading the site, requests are counted per address and per minute (for IPv6, per network of the first 64 bits). The address and its count are kept in the server's cache and removed after two minutes.
